Born of Spanish and Berber stock into the exotic and enriching complexities of Casablanca, Morocco, Zineb Harvey grew up to the spoken melodies of French, Spanish and Arabic while wandering thru the bazaars of Morocco. Traveling extensively as part of her early education, Zineb desired to expand her horizons. She relocated to America at age 19, where she was sure that her freedom of spirit and self-expression would be cultivated.

After receiving a degree in Mathematics from the University of California , San Diego , she switched her focus to her artistic inspirations and started Niskala, her own jewelry line. Named after the Balinese word for “unseen world,” Niskala aims at producing pieces with a cross-cultural edge that would tempt its bearer to discover new horizons.

Interestingly enough, Zineb started creating jewelry out of necessity. Having a ring size of 4, it was almost impossible for her to find designs suited to her exotic, yet refined taste. Taking the matter into her own hands, she started silversmith classes where she learned all about the secrets of the handcrafted jewelry trade. The more jewelry she made, the more passionate she became about her newfound art.

As the Design Director for Niskala, Zineb set out on a path to create her own line of jewelry that would satisfy her creative instinct. She combines a history of high quality standards and technical expertise with her contemporary visions that include exotic cross-cultural influences.
